Columbus City Council Radio, Special Guest Mark Kitrick:
Our President Mark Kitrick was featured on the August 13, 2011 Columbus City Council Radio program. Mark was brought on to the program to help us understand what type of insurance coverage we need. Many Ohioans are not aware, Ohio has the second lowest requirement for liability coverage of the “at fault driver,” -the person who caused the crash. Our state only requires $12,500 per person or $25,000 for multiple people, no matter how severely a person is injured. This is why uninsured or underinsured motorist coverage is so important. The coverage would take effect on from your own policy in the incident that you are hit by someone with low coverage.

Playing With Safety: Dangerous Toys and the Role of America’s Civil Justice System
American Association for Justice December 2010
“Today’s toys are not your parents’ toys. Toys have grown in sophistication and technological advancement, but so have their dangers. In 1970, the most popular toy on the market was the then brand new Nerf Ball. Forty years later, Nerf is still popular but has morphed into a “Blaster” – armed with flip-up sight, red dot light beam, and shoulder stock with an extra ammo clip- and had to be recalled after the gun’s mechanism injured more than 45 children.” Read More

Neither Blackston had liability insurance, said Mark Kitrick, the attorney for Kazlausky’s sister, Patti Byerly. . . The family wants to educate people about getting the proper insurance on their own car and hope that this lawsuit will help teach people what their options are to protect themselves, in case something like this happens to them, Kitrick said.”

Supreme Court decision doesn’t sit well a year later
Worthington News January 19, 2011
Jan. 21 is the one-year anniversary of the United States Supreme Court’s decision in Citizens United v. FEC which bestowed First Amendment rights on non-human entities.
As a result, corporations have been – and will continue to be – free to secretly spend unlimited cash to control our elections. Citizens United illustrates, in glaring fashion, the fallacy of ‘corporate personhood.’ The word ‘corporation’ occurs nowhere in the Constitution. Corporations are not ‘we the people.’ Indeed they are not people at all.Read More
