Millions of people take atorvastatin or what we know as  “Lipitor”  for high cholesterol. The drug blocks an enzyme in the liver which the body turns into cholesterol. This drug has a wide range of side effects including liver damage. So, if you are taking this drug, it is crucial to have your liver functioning monitored and also avoid alcohol which can increase liver side effects.  The biggest problem is  almost half of the drug users are developing diabetes, type 2. Type 2 diabetes is a chronic, very common form of the  disease wherein there are high levels of sugar (glucose) in the blood. Therefore, it is very important to be very aware of these effect, and perhaps look at alternatives with far fewer ramifications.
